The newly elected MLAs of the Karnataka Assembly took the oath in the name of God, Hindutva, and their spiritual gurus, and two MLAs even took it in the name of their political guru, DK Shivakumar instead of the Constitution, as per the News18 report.
As per the report, the MLAs paid no heed to the displeasure expressed by the pro-term speaker RV Deshpande.
The report added that while Deputy CM Shivakumar took oath in the name of his religious guru, whom he refers as god, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took the oath as an MLA in the name of God on the first day of the session itself.
Additionally, citing official data, the publication said, 182 MLAs took the oath of office on May 22, and another 34 members the following day.
