Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke about the recent Odisha train crash at an event in the United States of America.

At the event in New York on June 4, 2023, Gandhi and members of the Indian diaspora observed a 60-second silence in memory of those who died in the tragedy.

Gandhi said, "I remember a train accident when the Congress party was in power. Congress did not get up and say it is the fault of the British that the train crashed. The Congress minister said it is my responsibility that the train crashed, I'm resigning."

"If you ask them why the train accident occurred, they'll say that 50 years ago, Congress did something," the Congress leader added.

He further said, " That is the phenomenon of Narendra Modi. He is trying to drive the Indian car, and he only looks in the rearview mirror. And then he does not understand why this car is crashing, not moving forward."
