RJD's Manoj Jha has slammed Centre and the Bharatiya Janata Party after reports about NCERT suggesting 'Bharat' rename surfaced on October 25.

Hitting out at the govt, Jha said, "...Ever since the birth of the INDIA alliance, several reactions have been coming from BJP leaders...They are not able to figure out how to attack the INDIA alliance...I believe this is a hysterical reaction. Now NCERT is doing this. What will you do with Article 1 which says India that is Bharat. I am not able to understand the meaning of any of this...If the INDIA alliance changes its name to Bharat, then what will they do?...."

It is worth noting, that India's educational body has issued a clarification on the reports and has said it is too premature to comment on the matter as new syllabus and textbooks are under development.
