Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on August 11 commented on the speech given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament a day earlier.

Basing his attack on the situation in Manipur, Gandhi said that the northeast state was burning, but Modi was laughing and cracking jokes in the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi repeated his suggestion that if the Indian Army is deployed in Manipur, the violence can be stopped within two days.

The Wayanad MP asserted that no concrete action is being taken to stop the violence because Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah want Manipur to continue "burning".
