As the uproar over the horrific incident of stripped women being paraded in Manipur continues, the latest details have come to the fore.
As per NDTV, the shameful public molestation was triggered by a post--believed to be fake.
The act was in fact, a revenge to an alleged fake piece of information that circulated before the ethnic clashes in the north-eastern state broke out.
As per multiple reports, a photo of a woman claimed to be from the Meitei tribe was circulated on social media saying that the woman was raped and killed by Kuki community.
It was later revealed the information circulating was fake and had no connection with any woman in Manipur. It was actually the body of rape victim from Delhi. However, unfortunately, it became grounds for the brutal Manipur incident.
Tension mounted in the hills of Manipur after a May 4 video surfaced on Wednesday showing two women from one of the warring communities being paraded naked by a few men from the other side. The alleged mastermind was arrested on Thursday.
