A BJP MLA from Assam has reportedly sought the demolition of the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar, and construction of temples at the these locations.
Rupjyoti Kurmi said, "The Taj Mahal is called a symbol of love. It was built by Shah Jahan for his fourth wife Mumtaz. If it was really a symbol of love, then why did he marry 3 more times after Mumtaz died?"
He added, "Mughals violently looted money from Hindu kings and commoners to build the Taj Mahal."
