Delhi Services Bill that was cleared in Rajya Sabha in the recently concluded Parliament's Monsoon session has now become law after President Murmu signed off the bill.

The Bill faced massive resistance from the Opposition alliance INDIA. The law gives more power to the LG on the appointment and transfer of bureaucrats in the national capital.

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi govt had strongly objected to the bill accusing the Centre of taking away powers from the ruling govt.

Apart from the Delhi Services Bill, the President also gave her assent to other 3 bills cleared in the upper house which include the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill and the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill.
