The ambitious ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ of Congress party was flagged off from Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari on Wednesday. Chief minister MK Stalin was also present at the launch of the rally. The mega rally by Congress aiming at uniting the country, will go on for 150 days.
Participants of the rally will move in two batches and will walk over 20kms daily.
The rally will move from Tamil Nadu and reach Kerala on September 11. The participants will traverse through the state for the next 18 days, reaching Karnataka on September 30. It will then be in Karnataka for 21 days before moving north.
The mega rally will pass through Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Nilambur, Mysuru, Bellary, Raichur, Vikarabad, Nanded, Jalgaon, Indore, Kota, Dausa, Alwar, Bulandshahr, Delhi, Ambala, Pathankot and Jammu.
During the journey Rahul Gandhi will sleep in shipping containers at night, the Congress party said.
While the BJP took a swipe at the Congress and called the rally as Parivar Jodo yatra, the latter dubbed its mega outreach campaign as a turning point in Indian politics.
