BC Nagesh, Karnataka's Education Minister who enforced the controversial hijab ban in state's schools and colleges has lost the assembly elections. He also introduced changes to Karnataka's school syllabus that were seen as 'saffronisation' of education.

Nagesh lost to Congress' K Shadakshari, from the Tiptur constituency, by a margin of 17,652 votes.

He had won from the same constituency in 2008 and 2018.
