Assam: crackdown on child marriages continue, 78 women arrested

As many as 2,666 people have been arrested so far in connection with cases related to child marriages in Assam.

The development comes after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered tough action against those found guilty in the state. 

At least 78 women have also been arrested as part of the state government’s crackdown, The Indian Express reported. According to police officials, the women were arrested for 'facilitating' child marriages.
