As the Opposition accused the central government of snooping on them after receiving a hacking alert from Apple for a 'state-sponsored attacker', the BJP dug up a comment by late Congress minister and former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee.

Replying to a post by Congress leader P Chidambaram that 'the finger of suspicion points to a government agency', BJP's Amit Malviya shared a picture of 2011 new article on then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee claiming that his offices were bugged.

Taking a jibe at Chidambaram, Malviya that the veteran leader was the Home Minister of India when Mukherjee said that his finance ministry offices were bugged.

As per the Times of India article shared by Malviya, Pranab Mukherjee had written to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying that an adhesive-like substance was recovered from his office that might have been used to plant an electronic device.

A NDTV report on the same issue says that the Intelligence Bureau had investigated his concerns but found nothing.
