Amid a war between the Opposition and the Narendra Modi government over the Adani controversy, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge is in the eye of a storm over a scarf he wore to Parliament on 8 February 2023.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge had demanded a probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Adani issue. In response, Union minister Piyush Goyal reportedly said, "Kharge ji is wearing a Louis Vuitton scarf today. Should we set up a joint committee to look into this as well? Where did he get the scarf, who gave it to him and how much did it cost?"

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla drew a comparison between Kharge's scarf and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's jacket "made from recycled bottles sending a green message of fighting climate change".

Last year, a Louis Vuitton bag carried by Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra had also sparked a similar storm.
