Ten police personnel and a driver were killed after Naxals blew up the vehicle in which they were travelling in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Wednesday.

According to a report by NDTV, a powerful 50-kg improvised explosive device was used by Naxals.

The report added that the officers of the District Reserve Guard, who were on an anti-naxal operation, were travelling in a rented van. The vehicle that offered no ballistic protection may have been flung as far as 20 feet due to the blast, the NDTV report said.

Visuals show a huge crater, almost 10-feet deep, splitting the road at the site.
