Chennai, Dec 5 (PTI) The renowned film production company, Mythri Movie Makers, has resolved a legal dispute with acclaimed music director Illaiyaraja by agreeing to a settlement amount of Rs 50 lakh. This payment pertains to the use of his well-loved songs, "Nooru Varusham" and "Karutha Machan," in their film 'Dude.'

Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy of the Madras High Court recently recorded acceptance of the joint memorandum of compromise, dated November 28, 2025, and subsequently closed the application linked to Illaiyaraja's suit.

The lawsuit was initially filed seeking relief for alleged copyright infringement. Following negotiations, both parties successfully reached a settlement, the details of which were formalized in the joint memorandum of compromise.

The document was digitally signed by both the plaintiff and the defendant, with their respective legal counsel also endorsing it, the judge stated.

Upon evaluating the joint memorandum of compromise, the judge remarked, "I find no legal impediment for decreeing the suit in terms thereof."
