A Sub Divisional Magistrate in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh was suspended for allegedly ordering that the two men who overtook his car be beaten up on January 22.
According to reports, after the youth overtook the SDM, three men came out of the IAS officer's car and had an heated argument with them.
A purported viral video of the incident shows two men hitting a man multiple times on his leg. They also vandalised the car of the young men who overtook the SDM's vehicle.
MP's CM Mohan Yadav shared a post on X saying that the SDM named Amit Singh has been suspended.
He said, “The incident of assault on two youths by Bandhavgarh SDM is unfortunate. Instructions have been given to suspend the SDM. There is a good governance government in Madhya Pradesh. This kind of inhuman treatment of common people will not be tolerated at all in the state."
An FIR has been registered against the SDM along with three others for the assault. Both victims have been admitted to the district hospital.
