Manipur: 3 killed in fresh violence; state cabinet recommends assembly session from August 21

At least three people have been killed in fresh violence reported from Manipur’s Bishnupur district on 4 August. The deceased belong to the Meitei community according to media reports quoting officials. Several houses of the Kuki communities were also burnt by aggressive mob. Meanwhile, the state cabinet has recommended Governor Anusuiya Uikey to convene the assembly from August 21. Last month the state congress party had written to the governor seeking an emergency assembly session to discuss the ethnic violence situation in the state.
