Bengaluru, Dec 5 (PTI) A 38-year-old man tragically ended his life on Friday by jumping in front of an approaching train at Kengeri metro station, causing a temporary disruption in metro services, officials reported. The victim was identified as Shantagoud Policepatil and the incident occurred at around 8:15 am, according to Metro authorities. Eyewitnesses described how the man timed his jump precisely, tragically ensuring a collision with the incoming train.

Although emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene, Mr. Policepatil succumbed to his injuries instantly. The police, accompanied by paramedics, promptly removed the body from the tracks. Following the incident, metro services on the Purple Line were momentarily interrupted, with operations suspended from Mysore Road to Challaghatta.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) soon confirmed the resumption of services. "Services between Jnana Bharathi and Challaghatta have been fully restored as of 09:40 hrs. Train operations across the entire Purple Line are now running as per schedule," mentioned a post on BMRCL’s 'X' account.

Meanwhile, Kengeri police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
