A teacher in Maharashtra’s Thane district faces legal action for allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old student during class, police reported.

The incident occurred on January 13 at a school in Bhiwandi, where the teacher, Saif Iqbal Ansari, is accused of slapping the student after the child approached a peer to collect a book.

The case was registered on January 17, following a complaint by the boy’s parents, who expressed outrage over the teacher’s actions. An official investigation has been initiated, and Ansari has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing hurt and relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The parents have called for strict action, asserting that such behavior in a learning environment is unacceptable. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of children in schools.
