A married man from Maharashtra allegedly killed his live-in partner, who had filed a rape complaint against him. He then reportedly took his wife’s help to dispose of the body, which was found in a suitcase dumped in a creek.

Police officials said primary investigations say the man was angry with the victim after she filed a rape complaint. The 43-year-old then allegedly killed her after she refused to withdraw the complaint.

The Vasai resident was arrested along with his wife for the alleged murder, which officials said happened between August 9 and 12.

The Naigaon police on Monday registered an FIR against the accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) based on a complaint by the victim's sister.
