In a major setback to the INDIA alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan resigned from Congress on February 12.

According to a News 18 report, Chavan was unhappy with the party and is likely to join BJP in the coming days.

This comes as yet another blow to the Opposition after the split in Shiv Sena and NCP and the fall of Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state.
