Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the state will soon receive a major infrastructure boost with the establishment of a rail coach manufacturing unit under Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML).

The unit, titled ‘Project BRAHMA’ (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing), will be set up in Umaria village near the Bhopal district border in Raisen. The project will span over 60 hectares and involve an investment of ₹1,800 crore.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh is receiving a precious gift in the form of a rail coach manufacturing unit,” Dr. Yadav said. He added that the initiative will benefit four districts — Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore and Vidisha — and generate more than 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for students from local technical institutes.

The Chief Minister highlighted the project’s significance for the Bhopal region. “The project will play a vital role in accelerating the development of the Bhopal region, which is rapidly emerging as a metropolitan city,” he said. “It also reflects the spirit of the ‘Make in India’ mission being spearheaded by Prime Minister Modi. The coaches for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Metro trains to be manufactured here will mark the beginning of a new era in India’s railway system.”

Dr. Yadav reviewed the preparations for the foundation stone-laying ceremony during a meeting held at Samatva Bhavan. The Bhoomi Pujan is scheduled to take place on August 10 at Dussehra Maidan, Obaidullaganj, and will be attended by Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for comprehensive publicity for the project and instructed officials to ensure proper arrangements. “This ambitious project promises to catalyse regional development and create large-scale employment,” he said.

The ceremony will also feature a short film on the BEML project, a 3D walk-through of the proposed plant, and models of the upcoming manufacturing units. Around 10,000 participants are expected at the event.

Prominent dignitaries attending the event include Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare & Rural Development; Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Defence Production Secretary; Shri Satish Kumar, Chairman, Railway Board; and BEML Chairman Shri Shantanu Roy.

The review meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Skill Development and Employment (Independent Charge) Shri Gautam Tetwal, In-Charge Minister of Raisen District Shri Narayan Singh Panwar, and other senior officials.
