Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that rapid infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh’s cities is aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the importance of urban growth, he said this development is essential to meet the demands of a rising urban population and will serve as the foundation for the state’s inclusive progress.

To advance this agenda, the state is organizing the Madhya Pradesh Growth Conclave on July 11 at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore.

The event, themed “Next Horizon: Building Cities of Tomorrow,” will bring together key figures from India’s real estate sector to shape a strategic roadmap for urban transformation under the Viksit Madhya Pradesh @2047 mission.

Urban Growth Momentum in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh's urban economy is experiencing strong momentum. Four cities now have populations exceeding one million, and seven cities are part of the Smart Cities Mission initiated by the central government.

Currently, urban infrastructure projects worth ₹72,000 crore are underway, with proposals worth another ₹88,000 crore being considered.

The state is nationally recognized for its cleanliness efforts. Indore has been ranked India’s cleanest city for seven years running, and Bhopal has earned the title of second cleanest capital.

An annual allocation of ₹15,780 crore has been made for urban development in the state budget. Urban regions contribute 35.55% to the state's Gross Domestic Product (GSDP), and Madhya Pradesh is among the top states in implementing the Government of India's key urban initiatives. To streamline approvals and coordination, a single-window system has been introduced.

Housing Sector Offers Major Investment Prospects

Madhya Pradesh’s housing sector presents considerable investment opportunities. More than 8.32 lakh affordable homes have already been built, and another 10 lakh units are under construction, attracting an estimated investment of ₹50,000 crore.

The state also boasts a skilled workforce to support real estate and infrastructure development.

Urban infrastructure has expanded significantly, featuring 6,000 km of road construction, 80% piped water coverage, and 100% sewerage infrastructure. A total of 23 municipal services have been digitized and are now accessible online, while building permits are issued via a centralized portal.

Currently, 17,230 urban infrastructure projects are being implemented across the state. For enhanced urban cleanliness and sustainability, projects worth ₹2,800 crore are in progress. Additionally, ₹2,000 crore is being invested in developing riverfront and waterfront spaces.

Improving Urban Mobility and Promoting Green Transport

To enhance urban mobility, projects worth ₹21,000 crore are being executed to upgrade the transport network. Madhya Pradesh is also actively promoting electric vehicles (EVs) to curb pollution and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The state plans to deploy 552 electric buses in major cities, supported by the recently introduced Electric Vehicle Policy 2025.
