MP CM Mohan Yadav launches 'Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam' scheme to boost women's livelihood

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday unveiled a new livelihood-oriented initiative titled “Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam”, aimed at empowering women through horticulture.

The scheme will enable 30,000 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to develop orchards across 30,000 acres, with an estimated investment of ₹900 crore.

Under the scheme, 30 lakh horticultural saplings will be planted. Beneficiaries will be supported with saplings, fertilizers, funds for pit digging, barbed wire fencing, and water ponds for irrigation.

The women will also be trained in orchard development to ensure sustainability.

While addressing the Council of Ministers before the Cabinet meeting, CM Dr. Yadav lauded the successful execution of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan.

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Plantation Drive from July 1 to September 15

Highlighting another green initiative, Dr. Yadav announced the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, under which saplings will be planted at the origin points of around 100 rivers. Ten acres per site will be allocated, with an overall budget of ₹42 crore.

“The campaign will run from July 1 to September 15,” he said, adding that it will be conducted with public participation and involve key departments like Panchayat & Rural Development, Urban Development, Forest, and Horticulture.

Dr. Yadav directed the formation of District Development Advisory Committees, which will include MPs, MLAs, local body representatives, and experts from various sectors.

Jal Ganga Abhiyan: Over 85,000 Farm Ponds Constructed

The Chief Minister presented key achievements under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, such as:

- Construction of over 85,000 Khet-Taalab

- Recharge of over 1 lakh wells

- Launch of 1,000+ Amrit Sarovars under Amrit Sarovar 2.0

- Rejuvenation of 3,300+ urban water bodies

- Cleaning of 2,200 drains

- Installation of 4,000+ rainwater harvesting structures

Over 40 lakh people participated in the campaign, helping clean and restore more than 5,000 historical and religious water bodies, while 2.3 lakh ‘Jaldoots’ were registered.

Massive Water Conservation and Plantation Efforts Underway

As part of the Avril Nirmal Narmada Yojana, Dr. Yadav noted progress in digitising pilgrimage routes like Narmada Parikrama Path and Panchkoshi Yatra.

Plantation has begun on 5,600 hectares, and over 2,500 water structures have been developed in forest areas for wildlife.

He added, “Over 15,000 water structures have been formally recorded in revenue records,” and shared that six crore saplings are ready for plantation this monsoon.

MSP Procurement for Moong and Urad Begins July 7

Dr. Yadav also informed that Moong and Urad procurement under Minimum Support Price (MSP) will take place between July 7 and August 6.

As of June 30, 2.94 lakh farmers have registered for Moong and 11,495 for Urad. The central government has approved procurement of 3.51 lakh MT of Moong and 1.23 lakh MT of Urad. Registrations will close on July 6.

Union Carbide Waste Disposal Completed

Addressing a longstanding issue, Dr. Yadav announced that disposal of Union Carbide waste was completed on June 30, resolving a 40-year-old concern in the state.

Laptop Distribution to Meritorious Students on July 4

Laptops will be distributed on July 4 to outstanding students in recognition of academic excellence.

The Chief Minister also shared updates on the successful Regional Industries, Skill & Employment (RISE) Conclave in Ratlam and the Investor Meet in Surat, Gujarat.

CM Extends Birthday Wishes to Ministers and MLAs

Before the meeting, Dr. Yadav greeted Deputy CM Jagdish Devda and Minister of State for Forest & Environment Dilip Ahirwar on their birthdays.

He also extended wishes to Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput, and acknowledged birthdays of former minister Gopal Bhargava and MLA Reeti Pathak.
