Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has hailed the transformation of India’s railway infrastructure over the past decade, attributing the progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Chief Minister, the past 11 years have seen significant improvements in train punctuality, passenger amenities, station upgrades, and overall railway infrastructure.
“Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has witnessed a transformation in railway infrastructure and services of revolutionary proportions,” Dr. Yadav stated.
He highlighted the expansion of bullet trains, semi-high-speed trains, and metro networks as evidence of the rapid modernization in the sector.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Executive Lounge at Bhopal Railway Station, Dr. Yadav noted that Indore was the first city in the state to introduce metro rail, with Bhopal’s metro services expected to launch in October.
“An invitation has been extended to Prime Minister Shri Modi to inaugurate the Bhopal Metro,” he added. Currently, railway projects worth ₹1 lakh crore are in progress across Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also announced a new rail coach manufacturing facility coming up in Umaria village, Raisen district, near Bhopal. The plant is projected to match the scale of BHEL in terms of capacity.
He further pointed to infrastructure expansion along the Delhi–Nagda–Ratlam corridor and an upcoming rail route from Bhopal to Jhalawar via Rajgarh as further signs of progress.
At the event, Dr. Yadav introduced new lounge services at Bhopal station. “Special and VIP lounges are being introduced at Bhopal station, where passengers can access amenities for just Rs. 50, and enjoy refreshments for Rs. 100,” he said.
He also noted that Bhopal is already home to the state-of-the-art Rani Kamalapati Station. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, six more stations—Narmadapuram, Seoni, Shajapur, Shridham, Orchha, and one more—are being upgraded with ₹84 crore in funding.
Currently, four Vande Bharat trains operate from Madhya Pradesh, connecting 14 states through 18 stops. To support their upkeep, a new ₹100 crore coaching complex is being built.
Emphasising the wider impact of national leadership, Dr. Yadav stated, “Under PM Shri Modi’s leadership, India has gained new self-confidence, which has also brought significant positive changes to the lives of Madhya Pradesh’s citizens.” He shared that preparations are underway to enhance railway infrastructure ahead of the Ujjain Simhastha festival.
Among key developments, he cited Railway Ministry-approved projects worth ₹18,500 crore for the Indore–Manmad and Indore–Dahod routes. The Indore–Manmad link will connect Guna and Rajgarh directly to Mumbai, offering a shorter Delhi–Mumbai route that saves 200–250 km of travel distance and reduces journey time.
