The Jal Jeevan Mission, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim of providing safe tap water to every rural household, is making strong progress in Madhya Pradesh.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state has significantly accelerated implementation.

Over 78 lakh rural families have now received piped water connections, achieving 70.13% of the state’s target.

This progress signals a broader transformation in rural living, with access to clean drinking water improving health, education, and empowering women.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has placed Jal Jeevan Mission among the state’s top priorities and has instructed departments to complete all work within the defined timelines while ensuring high-quality standards. He stated, “The remaining 30% target will be achieved soon.”

Tap water reaches all homes in 19,760 villages; 12,702 earn 'Har Ghar Jal' certification

A total of 19,760 villages in Madhya Pradesh now have piped water supply in every household. Among these, 12,702 villages have received the “Har Ghar Jal” certification, reflecting both transparency and active community participation.

Local monitoring committees in these villages play a key role in maintaining water quality, ensuring regular supply, and engaging the public, contributing to the mission’s reliability and long-term success.

Sustainable solutions through single and group schemes

The state has approved 27,990 single-village tap water supply schemes, of which 15,542 have been completed. These projects are especially helpful for smaller villages relying on local water sources.

Simultaneously, 147 group water supply schemes are being executed by the Water Corporation, with 38 of them already completed. These group schemes are currently serving 23,164 villages and laying the foundation for sustainable and efficient water resource management.

Stream of development flowing into villages

In Madhya Pradesh, Jal Jeevan Mission is playing a transformative role in rural development. Beyond just providing clean drinking water, the mission is positively impacting the lives of villagers by promoting health, dignity, and economic well-being.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav recently remarked, “Jal Jeevan Mission is a living example of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, which strengthens the nation by empowering its villages.”

He reaffirmed the state’s dedication, saying, “Madhya Pradesh remains fully committed to taking the mission to new heights of success.”
