Days after this disturbing video surfaced on social media, Uttar Pradesh police booked the man allegedly seen in the video. A man named Junaid was booked on May 28 under the Prevention of Cruelty Towards Animals Act.

The matter was highlighted on Twitter by animal rights activist Vikendra Sharma. He posted a video of the accused picking a dog up by its hind leg, and spinning it around wildly before throwing it on the ground.

Police said that the accused was in Delhi and efforts were underway to arrest him. The actual incident occurred about a month ago in Badaun's Sahaswan Police Station area, but the video went viral recently.
