Violence between 2 Muslim groups on Eid in Rajasthan's Nagaur, amid Jodhpur tension

Amid tension in Jodhpur, violence was reported from another city in Rajasthan.
On the occasion of Eid on May 3, clashes erupted in Nagaur.

Reports suggested that two Muslim groups were at loggerheads over some issue related to Eid celebrations. The differences deteriorated into violence, with stone pelting and vandalism allegedly taking place.

Videos purportedly of the clashes emerged on social media. The incident occurred in Nagaur's Kidwai Nagar.

Tension in Nagaur coincided with similar incidents in Jodhpur. However, members of two different communities were involved in the Jodhpur clashes.

The cause was placing of religious flags near the statue of freedom fighter Balmukund Bissa, as per news agency PTI. Curfew, suspension of mobile internet services, and heavy deployment of security personnel followed violence in Jodhpur.
