Uttarakhand: heavy downpour causes flood-like situation in Haldwani

Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand's Haldwani, in Nainital district caused a flood-like situation with water entering resident's home.

People residing near the banks of river and other areas were evacuated and moved to safer places. 

Visuals from the affected areas show overflowing river water entering in residential areas causing damage to homes and roads.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on August 8 issued a yellow alert and predicted heavy rainfall in eight districts of the state.

The weather department issued warnings for heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital and Champawat districts.
