IRS officer Sameer Wankhede, who has been accused of demanding ₹25 crore as a bribe from actor Shah Rukh Khan, claimed on May 22, 2023, that he and his wife Kranti Redkar have been receiving threats, and need special security.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the Bombay High Court extended the interim protection granted to the former head of NCB's Mumbai zone. The court extended the protection from coercive action, such as arrest by CBI, till June 8, 2023.
The judges told Wankhede not to tamper with evidence and not speak to the media about the case.
