Dealing a blow to the Tamil Nadu government, the Supreme Court on 11 April 2023 allowed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to hold marches in the state.

The top court upheld the Madras High Court's order allowing the RSS to conduct marches in the southern state.

The Tamil Nadu government had told the Supreme Court that it was not completely opposed to the marches but cited intelligence reports to say that these cannot be conducted in every street or locality.
