Rajasthan: woman insists on marrying female friend, arrested after 'causing ruckus'

A woman insisting that her female friend marry her was arrested in Rajasthan's Nagaur on 5 November 2022.

The woman travelled from Madhya Pradesh to her friend's house in Nagaur. Upon reaching she allegedly caused major disturbance by insisting that her friend marry her.

The two women, aged between 21 and 25, met on social media a couple of years ago and became friends, police said. The woman from Madhya Pradesh allegedly sought physical relations with the other woman. Police said that she had also demanded ₹10 lakhs, and threatened the Rajasthan woman with leaking of their chats on social media if she did not accept the demands.

On 5 November, the Rajasthan woman and her family complained to the police following which an FIR for house trespass and extortion was registered, and the woman was arrested.
