Punjab cops get 'Gatka' martial arts training from Nihang Sikhs, days after clash with Amritpal followers

Days after a clash between Punjab police and followers of Khalistani sympathiser Amritpal Singh, it has emerged that Punjab Police personnel are receiving training in 'Gatka', a martial arts form mainly practiced by members of the Sikh community.

Cops were seen training with Nihang practitioners, a Sikh warrior order.

The special training is aimed at ensuring physical fitness of cops, as well as preparing them to deal with dangerous situations, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Avtar Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
