In a brazen crime in Uttar Pradesh, a witness in an MLA's murder case was shot dead on 24 February 2023.

Witness Umesh Pal's murder in broad daylight was caught on camera. He was a witness in the 2005 murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal.

Umesh Pal was shot while exiting an SUV. He tried to run towards an alley, but the assailant pursued him and shot him again, as per reports.

In what appeared to be a well-planned assassination, some men threw crude bombs on the street to cause confusion. Two police bodyguards also suffered bullet injuries.

Alleged don Atiq Ahmed, a former Lok Sabha MP, is an accused in Raju Pal's murder.
