A landslide was reported from Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir on 1 February 2023. The landslide occurred on National Highway 44 near Rampadi, as per the news agency ANI.

A day earlier, a landslide in Ramban district had led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for the second consecutive Tuesday. Shooting stones between Chanderkote and Banihal blocked the sole all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of India on 31 January.

Traffic officials had issued an advisory asking people not to travel on the highway. More than 600 vehicles were stranded at different points of the highway. Men and machines were deployed to clear the highway.
