Manipur: BSF jawan killed, 2 Assam Rifles soldiers injured in gunfight with militants

A week after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Manipur, the northeastern state continues to burn.

In the latest instance of violence, a soldier of the Border Security Force was killed while two personnel of Assam Rifles suffered gunshot wounds.

This happened during an encounter between security forces and militants in Sugnu on the intervening night of June 5 and 6, 2023.

The BSF jawan who died was identified as Ct/GD Ranjit Yadav.

The injured have been air evacuated to Mantripukhri and search operations are in progress, the Army’s SpearCorps headquartered in Dimapur said.
