On the occasion of India's 76th Independence Day, stone pelting occurred in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow. The pelting incident occurred when a Tiranga Yatra, or tricolour march, was being taken out in the city.

Clashes occurred due to rivalry between two groups conducting the Tiranga Yatra, according to police officials quoted by news agency ANI. Stones were pelted by one group at the other.
