In the second such incident in a month, a student allegedly committed suicide at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
A third-year BTech student part of the electrical engineering department was reportedly found hanging in his hostel room by his roommates on 14 March 2023. Police said that preliminary information suggested he faced trouble in "focusing on studies", as per an NDTV report.
On 14 February, a post-graduate student at IIT Madras had been found dead in his room.
