IIT Madras: after 2 student deaths in a month, institute sets up internal committee

Following two incidents of alleged suicides in just a month, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras has set up an Institute Internal Inquiry Committee, according to news agency ANI.

The move comes after a student was found hanging in his room on 14 March 2023. A similar incident had been reported on 14 February.

The inquiry committee has reportedly been tasked with looking into reasons and other aspects of the incidents. Elected student representatives are also part of the panel.
