The wife of a Zomato delivery executive who was killed by an allegedly drunk Delhi policeman has posted an emotional appeal for justice.

Sucheta Tripathi, wife of the victim Salil Tripathi, in a tweet tagged to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, has demanded justice for her family.

"The future is dark for my family", she wrote in the tweet.

38-year-old Salil Tripathi was killed after being hit by a car driven by a drunk policeman in West Delhi's Rohini area last week.

Tripathi was reportedly out for a food delivery on his bike when the incident happened. He reportedly hit the divider after being knocked down by the cop's car and died on the spot.

Tripathi is survived by his wife Sucheta, a 10-year-old son, and his mother.  He had lost his job as a hotel manager during the Covid pandemic and took up Zomato delivery agent's job to support his family. Reports also said that Tripathi had to withdraw his son from a private school due to financial hardships.

The accused policeman, who was also injured in the accident, has been arrested.
