The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of a cyclonic storm building in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat.

A depression over southeast Arabian Sea, south of Porbandar in Gujarat, is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the next 24 hours, IMD said on June 6, 2023.

A day earlier, the IMD had said that this development is likely to affect the advance of monsoon towards the Kerala coast.

The monsoon is likely to struggle to move deep inland under influence of such weather systems, experts told news agency PTI.
