15 die of electric shock as transformer explodes near bridge in Uttarakhand: reports

In a freakish and fatal accident, at least 15 people died of electrocution after a transformer exploded in Uttarakhand's Chamoli.

The blast in the transformer on July 19 caused an electric current to run through the railing of a bridge over the Alaknanda river.

The deceased included a police sub-inspector and 3 Home Guards.

Officials said that a probe has been launched to find the cause.
