A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death outside a textile shop at Surathkal on the outskirts of Mangaluru by a group of unidentified assailants on Thursday evening
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Fazil, a resident of Mangalpete near Surathkal. He was grievously inured in the attack and died on the way to hospital, the police said.
The assailants chased Fazil who was talking to an acquaintance and brutally assaulted him before stabbing him.

Immediately after the incident, prohibitory orders were imposed in Dakshina Kannada district which has been tense following the murder of a BJP youth wing leader on Tuesday.
