Karnataka Education Minister MC Sudhakar has defended the state government’s decision to allow students to wear the hijab while appearing for competitive and recruitment examinations.

This comes after some pro-Hindutva groups threatened to protest, while BJP legislator Yashpal Suvarna urged the Congress government to reconsider its decision.

In response, the Congress leader said people who are protesting should verify the guidelines of the NEET exam, which allows wearing hijabs.

Last year, a ban on hijab was imposed under the BJP regime.
