Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan, who has been in jail for 2 years after being arrested while he was going to UP's Hathras to report on a rape case, has been granted bail by UP High Court in a money laundering case.

The journalist was arrested on terror charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in October 2020. He has already been granted bail in that case by Supreme Court.

Kappan was accused of being a member of banned organisation Popular Front of India. The police alleged he was going to Hathras to spread communal disharmony
