The Uttarakhand govt has announced that owners of any establishment that will have to be demolished due to sinking of land in Joshimath will be compensated according to the market value.

The decision came after locals and owners of 2 hotels facing demolition in the hill town stalled the process asking for compensation.  The owners said that they were not informed in advance about the demolition.

As of now Hotels 'Malari Inn' and 'Mount View' are the only two buildings that have been marked to be razed to the ground. No decision has been taken on demolition of the houses, according to officials.
