An interfaith couple staying at a hotel in Karnataka's Haveri district was allegedly assaulted by a six-men gang.

Police said that the 26-year-old Muslim married woman and the Hindu man were in a consensual relationship and had checked into the hotel on January 7 when the six men barged in.

A video of the incident has surfaced which showed the woman being hit and dragged on the floor while the man was beaten even as he tried to run out of the room.

Two out of the six perpetrators have been arrested while police are trying to trace the remaining four with the help of the video.

Following the incident, the woman and her husband filed a police complaint, claiming that the accused later took her to an isolated place and gangraped her, according to Indian Express. The police said they are looking into the claim.
