India saw a single-day rise of 656 Covid-19 infections, 96 less than a day before when 752 cases were reported across the country.
According to the data released on December 24, the number of active cases stand at 3,742.
One death was reported in the last 24 hours, which was registered in Kerala.
The state recorded 425 new infections taking the active caseload to 3,000.
Karnataka crossed the 100-mark in terms of fresh cases as it registered 104 new infections.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease across the country has increased to 4,44,71,545, and the national recovery rate stands at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry's website.
The case fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent.
According to the ministry's website, 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country so far.
