After five straight days India reports less than 3 lakh Covid-19 cases

India on Tuesday reported over 2.55 lakh Covid-19 cases witness a considerable dip after reporting over 3 lakh coronavirus infections for five straight days. 

2,55,874 new coronavirus cases reported in the last 24 hours ending at 8am took the Covid tally in India to almost 3.98 crore.

The daily positivity rate, which is the share of Covid-19 tests that return positive has dropped to 15.52 per cent from Monday's 20.75 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 17.17 per cent.

India also added 614 fresh fatalities, taking the Covid-related death count since the start of the pandemic to 4,90,462.

The active cases in India now comprise 5.62 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate marginally increased to 93.15 per cent. The active cases presently stand at 22,36,842.
