The 77th Republic Day was celebrated at the Aam Aadmi Party’s Gujarat State Office in Ahmedabad, with State President Isudan Gadhvi leading the celebrations.
Gadhvi hoisted the national flag in the presence of Ahmedabad City President Vijay Patel, senior office bearers, and a large gathering of party workers.
After the flag-hoisting ceremony, Gadhvi extended greetings to all citizens of Gujarat and India, highlighting the significance of Republic Day. “On 26 January 1950, our Constitution came into force, ensuring equal rights for people of all religions, castes, and classes. All citizens, rich and poor alike, were brought under a common legal framework,” he said.
Gadhvi also reflected on the historical context of the Constitution, noting the efforts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and his team. “Our country’s Constitution was prepared with two years, 11 months, and 18 days of dedicated work, studying the Constitutions of 60 countries,” he said.
During his address, the AAP leader encouraged citizens to celebrate national festivals like Republic Day and Independence Day with enthusiasm to promote awareness about the values they represent. He also emphasised the importance of voting as a way to ensure capable governance. “Earlier, we lived under monarchy, and rules were imposed upon us. With the Constitution, a system was established in which the people elect their representatives. Creating awareness about voting is crucial so that good leaders and governments are elected,” Gadhvi said.
Gadhvi concluded his remarks by appealing to citizens to support efforts aimed at safeguarding people’s rights and strengthening democratic institutions.
The Republic Day celebrations at the AAP Gujarat office brought together party members and workers to commemorate the Constitution and the democratic framework of India.
