The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, in a bid to provide a safe work environment for the women workforce, has released new rules.

The circular released states that no women worker can be bound to do the night shift in factories across the state.

Moreover, the order also says that women will be provided with free transportation, food and sufficient supervision if they are working late hours or the night shift.

Any woman who refuses to work before 6 am and after 7 pm, cannot be terminated from employment and written consent is to be sought if she is to work night hours.

The government has notified the exemptions across the mills and factories in UP.

The circular places the onus of providing a secure work atmosphere on the employer to prevent incidents of sexual harassment in the workplace, while also asking for compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
